A Brief History of 4x4 Response
The 4x4 response concept was originally established in 1999 by a group of Land Rover owners to provide local community support. During the early 2000's other Groups formed across Southern England.
A formal 4x4 Response Network first formed in 2006 as a steering committee and subsequently in 2008 it became the national umbrella charity 4x4 Response UK.
In December 2014 there were 33 separate 4x4 response groups across the UK including Northern Ireland, the Isle of Mann and Isle of Wright.
Scotland now has five individual groups, which do meet on a regular basis. Shetland are the latest area to be looking at setting up a 4x4 response group. Highland 4x4 Response was formed in 2010
