Happy New Year! 2026 has certainly kept us busy so far. Highland 4x4 Response are still deployed all throughout the region and due to the scale and number of callouts we have received we are having to prioritise carefully and ensure the welfare of our team. All of our volunteer responders have done incredible work. In Caithness a single responder has racked up over 700miles in only 3, 15hour days to ensure that NHS Highland, Scottish Ambulance Service and care workers can visit those in the community that are most in need. We have also been extremely busy in Badenoch and Strathspey, Golspie and Skye. We are sorry for those callouts we have been unable to assist with but we are incredible proud of what we have achieved and the people we have helped. The work continues over the remainder of the week until the pressure on essential services eases. If you see us out and about give us a wave! We always wish we could do more; all our responders are volunteers that give their time for free, though we charge mileage that covers their costs. They all have busy lives and are only required to give what they can so the more members we have the more resources we are able to dedicate to support in severe weather events such as this. Please consider joining us and being one of our responders or controllers. To find out more check out our FAQS or apply to join us. Finally, we’ve been truly blown away by the level of community support and the heartfelt messages that have filtered through from social media, the boots (or tyres!) on the ground right to our controllers working behind the scenes. We’re also incredibly grateful for the generous donations made to our JustGiving fundraiser. Thankyou all. https://www.justgiving.com/campaign/highland4x4response....
